WHAT WE DO AND WHY

All About Us

We currently face a mental health crisis, and recognise the transformational power of the arts as preventative as well as restorative.

Research has shown the fundamental nature of the arts encourages creativity, self-expression, teamwork or co-operation, and as such people develop broader thinking patterns when it comes to finding their own – healthy – solutions as they navigated their day. Having spent 30 years offering creative opportunities and experiencing the benefits first hand, we are now supporting groups to do the same for their communities.
Arts programs have been shown to have numerous benefits on social inclusion and wellbeing, particularly for marginalised groups. They have the power to promote social inclusion by providing a space where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another. For instance, a community theatre production may involve individuals of varying ages, abilities, and cultural backgrounds working together to create a shared artistic experience. Such projects can foster a sense of belonging and cultivate mutual understanding between participants, thus breaking down social barriers and reducing feelings of isolation.

Participation in arts programs can also help boost confidence and open doors to opportunities that may otherwise be inaccessible. This newfound confidence can create a world of opportunities for these individuals, empowering them to pursue further education or employment in the arts, or to simply become more active and engaged members of their communities.

So if you are a charity or community group with an arts-based project in mind, or perhaps you need some support for your next production, or maybe you’re bringing in a team to teach an arts based skill for good health – you can apply for one of our grants of up to £2000.

Just make sure that your values match ours and the rest is on our grants application page.

CLICK PRODUCTIONS

Our Values
The name “CLICK” comes from that moment when you “get it”, it “clicks”, as there is always a moment in every performer where they connect with the character, their co-stars and themselves, and that feels AMAZING! The energy that is generated through that moment is the foundation of self-belief, true connection and supporting each other to achieve the same goal. And that elevation lasts – you only move forward from there.
Confidence building:

Confidence cannot easily be taught, but it can be embedded through experience…therefore we have always created a safe space where people can share ideas without fear, feel welcomed and included, and really begin to thrive. Just standing up in front of a room can fill people with fear, but not only do we have the ability to help you, but the arts gives you a space to practice like no other.

Learning:

With our founder (and producer of 30 years) being a drama teacher we’ve never demanded past experience - if you’re willing to learn, we're willing to teach! And we recognise that the performing arts is an area which doesn’t just develop and hone skills, but it can preserve them too. Our workshops and productions are also always led by people with industry experience, to ensure quality.

Inclusion:

As long as we retain the integrity of the author we’ve always cast on talent not “type” - wholeheartedly embracing integrated and colourblind and colour conscious casting. Any platform has such a responsibility to provide positive role models. We celebrate all ages, shapes and abilities in everything we do, and will always work to adapt as much as possible to ensure we are offering opportunities to all.

Community:

Unlike many amateur groups we have never charged a playing nor audition fee for our shows, our productions and events are funded out of ticket revenue. We also never ask for previous experience, just commitment, a positive attitude and the willingness to learn and "give it a go". We love involving as much of the community as possible, as well as supporting as many of the wonderful causes out there with our proceeds.

Kindness:

Just that. The wellbeing and enjoyment of those involved – organising and participating – is of foremost importance and a happy company will in turn result in a happy audience. For us theatre and the arts have been a form of self-care, whether that’s boosting the grey matter through learning new skills; finding a form of self-expression; connecting with a team that’s supportive; developing creativity; or – as much of our work – highlighting an important message and giving it voice is one of the most powerful elements of the platform that the arts affords.
MEDIA CONTRIBUTIONS

Despite the arts suffering funding cuts, we remain constant advocates of the huge value it contributes to all fields, and our founder, Dr Audrey Tang has written and contributed to a number of articles on this topic – you can access some of them here:

SKITS AND QUIBBLES

We also work with Wellbeing Media Studio and e360TV to produce a weekly arts and culture show called Skits and Quibbles which not only provides a visibility opportunity for performers, but we bring on industry professionals to share their knowledge and expertise, as well as discuss the issues facing the creative world.
